Disease Resistance for Summer Crops Using GO Isolates

BioFlora Offers an Organic Solution to Soil-Borne Plant Pathogens
With abundant rainfall in Winter 2016/2017, farmers must deal with a wide scope of issues for managing their crops this summer, ranging from root health issues, injured plants, late season crops, abundance of weeds, and crops resiliency. The wet conditions for these producers affect their choices in using herbicides and fungicides for handling mold and fungal pathogens. As rainfall was “much above average” across the US, alternative solutions are needed to aid in improving conditions for these valuable food crops[1]. BioFlora offers effective solutions, such as GO Isolates, to assist farmers in managing disease that will increase their yields by out-completing or decreasing a pathogen’s strength and building an active microbial community. A typical activity for farmers during spring season is managing disease caused by mold and fungal pathogens, and it is especially prevalent after having a wet winter. While planning applications, farmers may want to consider using GO Isolates, an organic acid product fortified with two strains of the microorganisms from the Bacillus family. This liquid soil microbial inoculant, is most effective against soil-borne plant pathogens by out-competing pathogens for nutrients and/or space. GO Isolates can also produce natural occurring compounds that protect crops from infection by fungal or bacterial pathogens. Depending on the disease, these functions can also decrease a pathogen’s population in the soil, diminish its strength, or affect the degree of infection. Results can often be noticed after one application, however depending on the crop it can be used as many times as necessary. GO Isolates is compatible with fungicides, and also excellent in the mineralization of organic matter, making other organic fertilizers and nutrients more bioavailable. GO Isolates is effective to use along with other products for treatments, serving to reduce the costs and needs of multiple treatments. It increases plant vigor, stronger roots, and resistance to diseases, because when plants are weak they are more susceptible to pests and insect predation. Another benefit for using GO Isolates is that it will benefit the soil ecology during every phase of the crop’s life cycle. Soil begins to recover, making it easier for plants to fulfill their nutritional needs. A well-balanced soil ecology leads to suppressive soils, this allows for a more varied and flexible response to environmental changes and stress. GO Isolates can be used with other BioFlora products including organic and sustainable micronutrients, fertilizers and soil amendments. To aid in opening and oxygenating the soil, BioFlora’s products work best when combined to improve the resilience of crops, strengthen the root system, and allow microorganisms to assist in processing nutrient availability to plants. Biological activity within the soil increases the exchange of plant nutrients for oxygen, while outcompeting pathogenic bacteria with beneficial bacteria[2]. In fact, “After farmers have used a combination of our products,” Dr. Srinivas Makam, Molecular and Microbiologist scientists attests, “water is able to penetrate deeper into the soil, taking twice as long to cover the field with the same amount of water. Farmers are amazed at the results in the infiltration rate which can be noticed after only one application. Crops green up immediately from nutrients being released in the soil, especially nitrogen.” Organic farmers also apply BioFlora Seaweed Creme® and Humega®, as the soil has more organic matter and better soil structure. Seaweed Creme acts as an additional vital growth stimulant for young crops that many organic farmers appreciate. Humega increases the microbial life of the soil as it is a biologically advanced humic acid, with high levels of carbon, carbohydrates and other essential nutrients. BioFlora agricultural products are OMRI Listed, and as mentioned are compatible to use with other products.
