Fulvic Acid and Seaweed: Nature’s Perspective for a Growing Fertilizer Market

Nov 22, 2017
BioFlora highlights how their unique products improve fertilizer applications at this one day summit
PHOENIX, AZ (November 8, 2017) – BioFlora is attending and speaking at the Specialty Fertilizer Global Summit 2017 in Charlotte, NC, as part of the thought leadership for new ways to use specialty fertilizer products for high-value crops. Dr. Srinivas Makam, Molecular Microbiologist at BioFlora, will be talking about how two of their products, Fulvex® and Seaweed Creme®, achieve higher nutrient uptake by nurturing the partnership between plants and soil in sustainable agriculture. BioFlora’s products are a unique approach to fertilizers, affecting the microbial life of the soil for optimum nutrient uptake and release, which regenerates the soil, providing farmers with agricultural solutions and increased yields. In viewing fertilization techniques, Dr. Makam will address nature’s perspective for growing the fertilizer market with BioFlora products: Fulvex, an organic, patented, one of a kind liquid extract of fulvic acid from leonardite, and Seaweed Creme, a concentrated blend made from hand-harvested, sun-dried, and homogenized Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed. These products enhance the yield of crops at all stages of plant development, from supporting seed germination and establishing strong roots, increasing photosynthesis and delivery of nutrients to plant cells, to crop finishing for longer shelf life. Fertilization programs including both of these products, which can be applied as a soil or foliar treatment, have shown earlier transition from vegetative growth to reproductive growth and increased fruit buds, flowering and increased fruit set, all resulting in more resilient crops and higher yields. Fulvic acid’s value to agriculture is receiving recognition for its’ dynamic cation exchange capacity (CEC) and its’ ability to facilitate nutrient transportation and assimilation across plant cellular membranes. These traits, and others, make Fulvex far superior to any existing nutrient delivery system and supplementation practices. It is also currently being used to maximize fertilizer and soil amendment applications when mixed together, as well as foliar applications and even seed treatments. Fulvex works to solubize minerals in the soil with its’ low molecular weight, enabling these vital nutrients to be carried directly into plant cells. Fulvex’s exceptionally high concentrations of ionic minerals are able to effectively stimulate plant metabolic functions. With a very high cation exchange capacity of 1000+, Fulvex gives strong attachment qualities, as it produces polyelectrolytes containing both positive and negative charges. This organic acid acts as a chelator, breaking apart heavy metals and releasing them into plant cells. What the plants cannot use is released through transpiration, removing harmful metals from the soil and plant tissue. This delivery happens quickly and efficiently. The structure of the soil and exchange of minerals builds Brix levels, and increases the photopsynthetic process by storing solublized sugar in plant cells and soils. As many farmers and fertilizer industry specialists know, Seaweed offers natural growth hormones – auxins, cytokinins, gibberellins, vitamins and amino acids – to boost production. BioFlora enhances its seaweed with more than 60 trace minerals and micronutrients, which are essential to healthy plant growth. This unique patented organic process offers the finest seaweed product in a concentrated soluble liquid that comes from utilizing the whole plant preserving the natural beneficial properties in seaweed. Seaweed Creme may be applied through any irrigation system many times throughout the growing season – prior to planting, early in the growing season, at budding and flowering, after bloom, and two weeks before harvest – for earlier production, higher yields, and longer shelf life. In tomatoes, for example, it alters flowering and fruiting patterns. It is also useful for root dip and is ideal for new plantings. As a soil treatment, Seaweed Creme feeds the microorganism population that assists in the release of nutrients into the soil, improving both the soil and plant health.
